According to WHO, 1.28 billion people worldwide suffer from hypertension, nearly half unaware of their condition. In India, the situation is more alarming with 188 million affected, but only 15% have it under control. This condition silently damages the heart, brain, kidneys, and eyes without obvious symptoms. As an eye surgeon, I have witnessed how hypertension affects the retina’s tiny blood vessels, leading to blurred vision or even permanent blindness.
